Invest in pharma sector: Dipan Mehta

Dipan Mehta, Member at BSE & NSE told CNBC-TV18, “Typically when pharma companies come out with earnings, there is a fair degree of volatility and there are surprises negative as well as positive. Pharmaceutical is a good place to increase exposure to if an investor already doesn’t have adequate exposure there. However, I would like to play the entire pharmaceutical pack only after I have known what the results are and it is very difficult to make an accurate forecast as far as pharmaceutical companies quarterly numbers are concerned. One is better off making a decision after seeing what the management has to say and what numbers have come through and what developments have taken place with what new product registration, which are the geographies they are doing well, how the currency has impacted them and how the local markets have done.” “So a lot of factors to look out for in pharmaceutical companies but my sense is that, it is a good sector to be invested in and slightly more overweight in but a lot more work has to go into identifying the right stocks within that sector,” he said.
